The SPACE Desktop Client is an application developed to streamline and secure the exchange of datasets with the SPACE storage systems. This cross-platform tool, compatible with various operating systems, ensures efficient and reliable file transfers. Key features#

Authorised Access Control:#

The client enforces strict access controls, ensuring users can only interact with storage resources they are authorised to use. For example, generic data cannot be uploaded to a designated “scans” folder, which prevents data misplacement and maintains the organisation of specialised datasets.

Comprehensive Data Tracking:#

The application automatically logs and tracks all data upload activities. This includes the type of data being transferred, the status of the upload (e.g., successful, failed), the uploading user, and a timestamp of the activity. This logging capability provides a clear audit trail for all data movements.

Automated Metadata Collection:#

For microscopy scans, the client is designed to automatically collect and log essential metadata directly to the central database. This ensures that key information, such as scanning parameters, sample details, and other relevant contextual data, is captured accurately and consistently.

Duplicate Data Prevention:#

The client incorporates a mechanism to check for previously uploaded or duplicate data. Before initiating a new upload, it verifies whether the same dataset already exists in the storage system.
